Todd and Ashley joined us from Japan where they spent some time exploring the cherry blossoms, food, and quirky culture before heading out to their next adventure. What started as an idea to winter somewhere warm and tropical to spend more quality family time together, quickly became a grand around the world adventure. I’m so very blessed to have had the chance to talk to this lovely family while on their adventures and I hope you come away as inspired as I did!

Who are the McClenaghans from Our Squad Abroad?!
Todd & Ashley McClenaghan are the fearless leaders (aka mom & dad) over at the Instagram account Our Squad Abroad. They are currently chronicling their full-time adventures around the world with their young family, they have 4 kids, (yes you read that right, 4 kids) Eli-9, Bentz-7, Tatum-5, and Max-2. They love adventure and seeking out all things beautiful in this amazing world. Their travel life isn’t perfect, the beds are usually hard and they should probably plan ahead more, but they are doing it, they are living their big, wild, crazy dream and hopefully inspiring other families to do the same, whatever those dreams might look like.

From immersive cultural and historical experiences to the kindness of locals, South Korea has become a true inspiration to their large family. Make sure to listen to see how it has inspired their kids to learn new hobbies once they get home!
How to Deal With Picky Eaters While Traveling:
If your toddler is like most, including mine, then you worry about traveling with a picky eater. But Todd and Ashley have some insight on how to help your child become a more experimental eater! Listen in on how they make sure everyone can find something they love while still encouraging them to try something new! They may become your child’s new favorite food!

How To Decide What Countries To Visit & How Long To Stay:
When you only have 9 months and a large family, how did they decide where to go? They explain how they’ve decided which countries to visit and when as well as the pitfalls of fulltime travel. Sometimes it’s not so much planning, but following your family’s needs.
Traveling With A Large Family
In a world where everything seems to be geared towards the “perfect” sized family of two adults and two children, I asked them how they navigate the world with 4 kids. From shoebox size hotel rooms to taxis made for 4-5 people to restaurants not suitable for small children Todd and Ashley explain their tips for traveling long term with a large family. Including a tip to get insider knowledge in the areas you’re visiting!
Traveling With A Toddler
This interview was perfect timing as I was struggling with my toddler not napping and then sleeping. So I had to know how they manage traveling with a toddler with inconsistent schedules!

Hope it helps! I think we all deal with picky eaters at some point. My biggest struggle is looking at it as a long term goal and not meal to meal.

This was such an enjoyable podcast to listen to! I loved that they don’t let their family size, ages of their children to affect their ability to travel! Such an inspiring family!! Also, I loved hearing what your son had to say too at the end. We’re all traveling families so we understand. I thought it was a cute touch.
