Mom coach by day, #travelingfamily by night (and vice versa 😂🤷‍♀️). Helping moms create their best life through #gentleparenting, self-discovery,& fun

Instagram post 2135712280548334830_1504398494 So yesterday was so busy I didn’t get a chance to post this... A few weeks before making our trip to PA for the Hershey RV show I had called my great aunt Rhoda to see about visiting her. With our thousand trails camping pass we’d only be paying extra for fuel and it’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen her so I didn’t want to risk waiting.
So I told her what week we’d be up and she said she might have to have surgery and she’d let me know. I told her when we knew what date I’d let her know... well we didn’t know what dates until this past weekend so I called her once I made all the reservations. Unfortunately with Allen’s schedule we didn’t have much time to spend.
I tried calling and leaving messages for 3 days before our meetup day with no call backs and no one picking up. I was starting to get worried. Yesterday came and I tried calling two more times before we decided we were just going to go and start knocking on doors. You see I had her old address and I knew she lived somewhere near it and she’d been living there for decades so my hope was someone could help me.
We get to the old house and start walking towards the first door when I see someone walking out of the neighbor’s house so I ask them if they know a Rhoda and her maiden name is Gray but I can’t remember her married name and I’m her niece. And they knew her well! They take care of her great grandson when she has dr’s appointments and things!

They brought us across the street and up the stairs and luckily she had the door unlocked so we knocked and she said “there’s this woman outside that claims she’s your great niece or something.” And when she saw me she was so excited! She thought we had forgotten about her like another set of cousins that had promised to visit and didn’t. Turns out I had her cell phone which she rarely hears lol.
We then spent 6 hours talking, and going through old photographs and documents that I was able to add to ancestry and I learned about two more generations that I had no clue about! Even saw my great-great grandmother’s birth certificate and it was in better condition than mine lol!

I’m so glad we live a life where I was able to make this happen.
Instagram post 2042154163418104395_1504398494 Happy Mother’s Day! While this little boy actually didn’t make me a mom in my book, my angel did, he is what makes me want to constantly improve as a mom and a person.
🥰
Today we checked three things off our Hong Kong bucket list before we go. It was all right next to each other making it super simple to spend a day together! First up was Nan Lian Gardens, then Chi Lin Nunnery before Plaza Hollywood for some Pizza Hut and a giant cookie! And we ended with Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool where we all had a blast splashing around and going down water slides! Vlog coming in a few weeks!
💦
So what are you doing for Mother’s Day?

Instagram post 2069731161101687288_1504398494 I loved what Kelsey has to say about learning to be grateful for the hard emotions like fear in order to move past them and choose a more positive thought instead. Anyone else struggle to have a more positive mindset?
✋
Yesterday I released another podcast interview and it’s one perfect for all parents, but especially if you’re considering homeschooling.
🙋‍♀️
Kelsey of @positivelydelighted shares her struggles and triumphs of growing up roadschooled from 11-17 as well as gives us some tips on how we can raise more confident children. She even just released her first book “Growing Up Roadschooled” and the kindle version is only 99¢ for a limited time!

Instagram post 2150251160593143987_1504398494 This weekend Boogie has his first fireworks experience! I explained beforehand what to expect, including a horrible rendition of what the sounds would be like 🙈🤷‍♀️😜. In the end he loved it! The only reason he started screaming in the second video is because other kids were screaming and he thought that’s what you’re supposed to do lol.
🎆
Swipe to hear more of his cuteness!
Instagram post 2048354975859416474_1504398494 Sometimes life’s greatest adventures happen in a cardboard box. 😜
Instagram post 2158301537680997440_1504398494 It’s one of those rain all day kind of days and the weather has cooled off a lot! Like this is as cold as it normally got (minus a few random cold spells) in Hong Kong! So that means we’re inside our 26’x8’ rv all day... which thanks to our new “fireplace” heater from @walmart is nice and toasty warm!
.
Of course the toddler still has the same amount of energy lol! So watercolor paints sprayed with a spray bottle and his sketchbook in the bathroom area means quiet activity with easy clean up!
👨‍🎤
This is one of the many ways I manage my own agenda and his need to be messy. Kids need to get messy and even adult artists like to really get into it and end up messy! It’s a part of the process. Of course when you’re the one cleaning it up it’s not so fun. So we compromise. He gets to paint how he wants and we just wipe it up with a little water!
💦
Do you have any messy time tips and tricks to share?! Share it in the comments!

Instagram post 2048705527793533507_1504398494 Do you agree? Is travel supposed to make you uncomfortable?
🤷‍♀️
This week we start going to one podcast a week (mostly lol) so that we can also start sharing our vlog stories as well. And this week is Madison of @theamericanfieldtrip! 😍
I’m so excited to share this episode because Madison gives us insight on how setting big travel goals helped her family convert a bus into an rv in 4 weeks and see 59 national parks in 18 months! And now they’re working through the national park sites...419 sites! The Bowmans definitely know how to dream big! 🚌

Instagram post 2052301266553771583_1504398494 We checked another couple items off our Hong Kong bucket list today! The space museum, the Star ferry, and a Korean BBQ buffet!
☑️ While there were many sweet moments like this one throughout the day, it wasn’t all 🌈 and 🌞! John was extra loud and feisty today, our camera battery was dying, it started pouring, and John had an epic meltdown on the train.
🙈
🤷‍♀️
But that’s ok. Having family adventures isn’t about everything going right. In fact, it’s the things that have gone wrong in the past that helped this trip run more smoothly. We learn from each trip how to prepare better and how to communicate better. And the quality time of course can’t be beat!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
This week on the podcast we talk with Jenna about how to make traveling with young kids a bit easier including while potty training! Jenna is a big believer in small experiences being the heart of the family and has lots of great insight. So be sure to check it out! 🥰
